Who We Are
Serving nearly 200 local government entities across Missouri and Kansas state lines, we’ve worked with all types and sizes of municipalities. From city attorneys to prosecutors, to special counsel and litigation counsel, we have decades of experience with a wide variety of legal issues each city faces. Most of our attorneys have dedicated their entire practices to municipal law, coming from in-house city attorney positions, working at state administrative agencies, and from experience within the court system. Each of our attorneys is required to undertake a specific niche area within municipal law in addition to their general city attorney practice. Our goal at Lauber Municipal Law is to meld our previous experience together to provide a high-quality “big firm” work product, while providing the flexibility, personal responsiveness, and cost effectiveness of a small firm.

Lauber Municipal Law provides general counsel (city attorney, village attorney, district attorney) services and municipal prosecutor services on an ongoing basis; or, on a project basis.
Our attorneys are well experienced in the everyday issues that arise for municipal entities:

- Drafting, negotiation, review, and interpretation of contracts
- The applicability of the Kansas Open Records Act and Kansas Open Meetings Act or Missouri Sunshine Law

We can help your city (first, second, and third class home rule cities in Kansas, and third class, fourth class, or constitutional charter cities in Missouri), town, village, fire protection district, ambulance district, water and sewer district, or other governmental entity or political subdivision taxing jurisdiction in a wide variety of ways and provide your elected officials and administrative staff with confidence and peace of mind in conducting your government entity’s business.

Litigation
Our litigation practice area provides a full array of litigation services for governmental entities who find themselves as plaintiffs or defendants. Our deep bench of attorneys and experienced paralegals allow us to provide cost-effective representation of all types of municipal litigation. Our litigation team also serves as insurance defense counsel to municipal risk pools with memberships comprised of our clients and potential clients.
